Engineering Services

At the heart of Segovia’s Engineering Services are the experienced system, RF, IP and IT engineers who lead the company’s R&D efforts and provide specialized support, as needed. This ensures that the Segovia network provides superior infrastructure integrity and highly reliable performance. We provide the following services under this area:

Solutions Engineering

The Segovia Solutions Engineering team provides overall system design and pre-sales support. This includes the development and deployment of satellite communication networks that meet the increasingly complex demands of our government and commercial customers. Engineering capabilities span technical analysis, link budget analysis, network diagrams, terrestrial network resource planning, and associated hardware and software connectivity requirements.

RF Engineering

The Segovia RF Engineering team is responsible for the engineering, support and performance of Segovia’s global satellite network.  This includes RF network design using the latest link budget analysis and payload management techniques, and end-to-end management of RF satellite services and hardware within the Segovia teleports.  In addition, RF Engineering performs general platform maintenance, troubleshooting and resolution of remote VSAT and network equipment problems.

IP Engineering

Segovia's IP Engineering team has extensive experience deploying terrestrial hardware and services in support of Segovia's end-to-end communication solutions. Across our private Multi-Protocol Label Switched (MPLS) backbone to the remote edge, Segovia engineers design IP addressing constructs for the IP equipment, including satellite modems and convergence routers, switches and firewalls. We work with our customers to procure IP addresses and manage the allocation of addresses through the network. The native capabilities of Segovia’s global satellite infrastructure and MPLS backbone enable complete portability of IP addresses assigned to any given remote satellite modem.  As a remote terminal roams from region to region, its IP configuration stays the same, ensuring that end-user applications perform consistently and reliability without intervention.

Segovia's IP Engineering team provisions customized Quality of Service (QoS) profiles across our customers’ networks to ensure delivery of critical communications. The use of Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs) within the enclave infrastructure maintains application separation, allowing traffic prioritization and management within the enclave.  VLAN logic extends through the WAN to sustain QoS throughout the end-to-end communications path.
