Managed Network Services

Global Communication Services

Segovia seamlessly bridges the satellite-to-fiber divide in the global terrestrial communication market. We leverage our satellite and terrestrial communication networks expertise to solve our clients' end-to-end global telecommunication needs, delivering flexible, interoperable, custom-fit communication solutions that meet their objectives. Our private Multi-Protocol Label Switched (MPLS) network, and our close working relationships with every major satellite system operator, allows us to deliver solutions with greater speed and reliability.

An integral part of Segovia's end-to-end, global communication solutions is the ability to deliver high capacity, global, full-spectrum service, including:

Through a combination of industry partnerships, a satellite agnostic approach and a multi-layered architecture, we allow fast and secure reach back from our remote satellite terminals to customer-owned resources and networks. Segovia complies with U.S. Government, Department of Defense and international security standards, guidelines and best practices. Our solution provides a secure, reliable platform for all IP communications – and supports both classified and unclassified traffic.

Our fixed communication solutions provide reliable connectivity and secure, interoperable communications for Defense, Homeland Security, Federal Civilian, Intelligence, and Public Safety agencies. Customers can access Segovia's globally diverse teleports, private MPLS backbone and secure hosting facilities. Our fixed antennas can be installed independently to service large numbers of remote users and our multi-layered architecture includes intelligent routing, VPNs, TCP acceleration/compression, and portable IP addressing - providing fast and secure reach back from your remote terminal - no matter where it is located.

Our rapidly deployable mobile communication solutions – ranging in size and complexity from lightweight manpacks to trailers and UAV configurations – support globally-deployed personnel who need immediate access to sensitive information in remote, often hostile locations, as well as first responders and public safety officials who need to communicate critical information during emergency situations.

Ku-Band;

Ku-band is in the microwave range of frequencies (10 to 14.5 GHz), and is primarily used for land and littoral communications. The higher operational frequency allows smaller receiving antenna systems, enabling more mobile and flexible communication solutions. Ku-band VSATs vary between 60cm and 2.4m in diameter and are ideal for maritime-base communications.

Typical Ku-band Applications include:

  • Fixed Satellite Services
  • Mobile Satellite Services
  • VSAT voice, video and data networks
  • Digital Broadcast Satellite (DBS)

Ka-Band

Quickly gaining ground in both the commercial and DoD market segments, Ka-Band is the latest frequency band operating within the K-Band range of 18-40GHz.  The term “Ka” stands for K-above, signifying operations within the upper third of the overall K-Band frequency range between 27-40GHz.  Currently utilized by the DoD on the Wideband Gapfiller System (WGS) satellite constellation, Ka-Band offers users higher powered beams with greater throughput capacity for bandwidth-intensive applications such as live streaming video.

Ka-Band is also gaining ground within the Oil and Gas, Energy and Maritime commercial markets and is in a prime position to accommodate future commercial Aeronautical applications. Ka-Band is particularly recognized for its high-powered beam, which allows the user community to utilize smaller aperture VSAT remote terminals starting at 60cm and to attain optimized receive levels at even smaller sizes.

Typical Ka-Band Applications include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV)/Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS)
  • Aeronautical Applications
  • Stabilized and Fixed Maritime Platform Operations
  • Low-profile Communications on the Move (COTM) Platforms
  • See Coverage Map

C-Band

C-band is in the microwave range of frequencies (4 to 8 GHz) and performs better under adverse weather conditions than Ku-band or Ka-band frequencies. C-band VSATs vary between 1.5m and 2.4m in diameter and are ideal for maritime-base communications. C-band beams cover a large geographic area and facilitate intercontinental and global communications over land and sea and enable cost-effective satellite services to less densely populated or underserved areas.

C-band frequencies are used to provide a wide range of critical services including:

  • Distribution of Video services
  • Distance learning, Telemedicine and Universal Access Services
  • VSAT voice, video, and data networks
  • Fixed Satellite Services
  • Government/Emergency communication links, including disaster recovery services
  • Maritime Services
  • Oil and Gas Communications
  • See Coverage Map

X-Band

The X-band frequency range is from 8 to 12 GHz and is used for military-based operations. X-band offers optimal operations in adverse weather, and X-band spot beams are compatible with smaller, mobile terminal equipment.

Typical X-band applications include:

L-Band

Frequencies between 1 and 2 GHz are referred to as L-band. L-band antennas are small and light-weight making them especially suited for tactical and mobile operation. The primary L-band constellation is the Inmarsat I-4 BGAN Network, which has a direct-connect into the Segovia MPLS backbone. L-band provides global operations and operates in adverse weather conditions and provides seamless global network coverage enabling broadband communications to mobile users anywhere in the world.

Typical L-band applications include:

  • Mobile voice, video and data services (land, air, sea)
  • Navigation Systems
  • See Coverage Map
