U.S. Army Corps of Engineers: Deployable Tactical Operations System

The Challenge:

The Deployable Tactical Operations System (DTOS) supports the Army Corps of Engineers and other U.S. government disaster-response agencies in U.S. and U.S. territories. DTOS requires comprehensive data communications capabilities that can be deployed quickly onsite at the scene of the disaster.

The Solution:

Segovia provides a comprehensive solution that includes the Segovia IP satellite network and support of mobile Deployable Tactical Operations Centers, which together deliver command and control for emergencies and natural disasters. As part of this program, Segovia:

  • Supports eight mobile VSAT systems that each supply computer capabilities and communication systems for up to up to 38 people
  • Provides support within four hours of notice in emergency situations
  • Delivers network connectivity with Army, DoD, FEMA, and federal/state agencies

The Segovia solution has been proven in action in Florida hurricanes, West Coast wildfires, and monsoons in Guam/Yap and key national events including the Republican and Democratic National Conventions, the Super Bowl and the Olympics.

Benefits:

  • The size and weight of communications devices is reduced, while bandwidth and capabilities are increased.
  • Mobile network environment is on call for disaster situations.
  • First responders are supported.
  • Service to disaster victims is facilitated.
